Prep for Inspection & other misc. jobs

March 28th & 29th, 2009
Built a wall for the kitchen island.

The height shown is for the bar height countertop and the lower level of the island will be cabinets, sink, stove and prep area for cooking.

All of the wire being ran into the basement and directly to the panel. With this many outlets and switches, it looks like a "race track" in the basement rafters.

Splicing and pigtailing all wires in every outlet, every switch and every light fixture was done in preparation for the electrical inspection. This is a very detailed and tedious task.

You guessed it.....

March 21st & 22nd

More electrical work!

Finished wiring to all the light boxes and outlets.
Next we started the "Home Runs", which is running wire from each room down thru the basement and connecting it to the electrical panel. The big gray cable is what connects the basement panel to the one in the garage.

More Insulation, more wiring & misc. jobs

March 14 & 15, 2009

One of the pocket door frames was installed.

I ran wire to all the electrical outlets in the garage including 3 more light fixtures.

Holes were cut into the wall connecting the house & garage, so more outlets could be installed.

With approx. 15 outlets in the garage, I sure do hope we have enough. :)

All of the wall insulation is finished in the house & garage.
Except the area's we have wired which needs to stay exposed until after the inspection.

Cutting the insulation
to size

Both garage walls, as done as they can be for now.

Insulation & Electrical Projects

March 7th & 8th, 2009
We were able to get a great start on the insulation this weekend....

...as well as misc. electrical work.

The bathroom light/exhaust fan was installed and the shower lights went up.

Added light boxes in the bedroom around the hexagonal area.

Two motion sensor lights went up on the outside of our house. One above the patio door....

and one on the north side of the house.

Frames for speakers went up but now he has to wire it through all my insulation I put up.
The vaulted area is fully insulated as well as the highest parts of the east and west wall in the main area. We have seen about a 10 degree temp increase compared to the outside temps.

Just a few small updates...

March 5th, 2008

Just a few small updates...from the past couple of weeks.

We've been working on electrical and other misc. jobs, with just a few minor slowdowns, such as the ongoing battle with cold temps and 1 week of being out of state on a business trip.

But we have managed to....

insulate & hang drywall around the furnace so HVAC work can resume. Wired lights in the basement...

..installed the 2nd electrical panel in basement as well as all 3 garage openers.

Finished putting up vent chutes which means...

We can start insulating!!

We hope to have good weather this weekend, so we should have more updates on Monday.
